The City of Copperhill is seeking applicants for a Public Works Maintenance Worker position to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in support of city infrastructure and services. This position is responsible for general city maintenance, maintaining city streets, collecting residential waste, repairing and connecting water and sewer lines, and assisting with the operation and monitoring of the municipal wastewater treatment plant. Work is performed under general supervision with increasing independence as skills develop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- General City Maintenance
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on city-owned facilities, grounds, and infrastructure
- Respond to citizen service requests and emergency maintenance calls
- Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and light to heavy equipment
- Street Repair & Maintenance
- Patch and repair asphalt and concrete roadways, curbs, and sidewalks
- Perform crack sealing, pothole filling, and road surface preparation
- Install and maintain street signs, traffic control devices, and pavement markings
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations as needed
- Trash Collection
- Collect and transport solid waste to designated disposal or transfer facilities
- Maintain collection routes and adhere to established schedules
- Ensure safe and sanitary handling of waste materials
- Water & Sewer Line Repair/Connections
- Locate, excavate, repair, and replace water distribution and sewer collection lines
- Make new service connections for water and sewer systems
- Operate and maintain valves, hydrants, meters, and related infrastructure
- Respond to water main breaks and sewer emergencies on a rotating on-call basis
- Wastewater Treatment Plant (after training)
- Provide back-up support to the Wastewater Treatment Plant employees as needed
- Assist licensed operators in monitoring plant processes and equipment

Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Dependable, self-motivated, and eager to learn
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
- Experience in public works, construction, or utilities a plus but not required
